NFCS service poster

Pajamadayfinal2.jpg

This project was one of my favorite as I was able to find out the specific fonts that made the unique NFCS style. I was able to use creativity to create a design that represented my school. The hardest part was dealing with copyright and making sure I use images that weren't owned. I really liked this project because I was able to create a beautiful designed poster that represents a fun day in December for NFCS

NFCS reopening PSA grades k-8

I liked this project really well because it allowed me to portray the uniforms of students in the lower grades through an informal sight for students to look at. I used the different uniforms from the Digullios site. The hardest part about this project was setting up how the uniforms were gonna be on the canvas. I had many ideas of how it should or could look but I felt as if this was the best way. I also added the NFCS colors to give it an NFCS feel to the poster.

New Foundations selects their new student council leaders!

New foundations are proud to present their new student council representatives from each grade after voting on friday November 20th. Twelfth grade has voted Kenny Lam for their class president and Abigail Lentz for vice president, eleventh grade has chosen president Omar Felix and vice president Hakeem Hall, in tenth grade Zina Ahmed was elected president and Kumara Plaisimont vice president, for ninth grade president Sarah Khowessa and vice president Messina St. Hubert. As of November 23rd these new candidates are officially set and have a vision for the future of nfcs that is unique in allowing the school to grow and succeed.

Mr Moomaw congratulates the winners "Thank you to everybody who ran and submitted speeches. Your willingness to contribute to your school community should be applauded." This signalled the end of the election and the start to a new year for NFCS.

When interviewed about his plan Omar Felix has offered up his thoughts on how he looks at the election. He seemed to take a more focused approach as he talked about what he is going to do with the power that he has being the president of his grade. “I do not see this role as a source of power for myself, but rather for the student body. I plan on reaching out to the junior class and asking what do you feel is wrong with the school as of now, and how can I help to fix it. Also I will try and better your high school experience to the best of my ability.” he stated.

Only time will tell what these students will do for the school and its future.

Seniors experience
By Christian Rillera

Do seniors deserve graduation? Seniors should absolutely get their ceremonies for their last year.

This pandemic has effected many students, families, and staff from schools. People have been not able to leave their house as often, and some have lost family members to this virus.

There has been debate on how to open schools back up as the decrease in cases of Covid-19 appears. Some say that schools should be half in the school and half online. New foundations however is planning their reopening based on statistics at the end of each month. Starting off the year they have decided to have school be all online. However, some of the senior events at New Foundations still stand and are continuing. "Senior sweaters were done. Ring ceremony IS taking place. Senior breakfast and prom are a go as of right now. We will be ordering caps and gowns real soon so you guys can have cap and gown pictures" Mrs Peggy stated.

"Right now I feel we know how to deal with this pandemic better than when it first hit. I think last year we could have had an outside, spread apart graduation" said Mrs Peggy in an interview. The students last year had a drive-by graduation! Just imagine the frustration in the students that went through all 12 years of schooling  just to graduate in their cars.

When asked what event she should experience the most senior Marissa Callan simply said "I want at least prom or to have a real graduation". When asked why she said " Because its part of every senior experience and important to every senior as it is something to do before their next chapter". Without hesitations most students are saying the same thing as well. So will students be able to get their senior events? only time will tell with this pandemic happening right now.

Financial Night
By Christian Rillera

To kick off the new year, New Foundations is having their annual Financial night at the highschool campus. New Foundations invites families from all seniors to come and talk about all of the things that students need to do to prepare for college. This Financial night will be taking place as soon as most of the preparations for college are happening at this time of the year. Should students attend this night? When asked Robert Voight said "Most students who go to college receive some type of financial aid, and it is important to know what you are getting yourself into when it comes to possibly owing money in the future". Students should definitely look at all of the aspects of every decision they are going to make especially right now. "For the colleges I am looking for, I will most likely have to get financial aid" says senior Carson Salvatore. Seniors should research all of the information about Financial aid and whatever they need to do so they can go to college and have a successful future. The worst case scenario is that a student goes to college and is left in complete debt for the rest of their life. Now that would be a sad story!

This project was what educated me with the skills and tools that are used in photoshop. I learned how to edit a picture using layers and how to change the look and feel of a picture. The hardest part to learn I would say is the layers, even though it wasn't that hard. I had a little trouble understanding how to change the colors of certain ornaments and to add them to only the ornaments that I selected. Other then that issue, This project opened a door to photoshop for me that gave me interest.
